In 1973, Max started a small business - MT Andrews Auto Freighters - providing car transportation services between Sydney and Kempsey, operating from his residence in Frederickton. Initially, the primary vehicle, a red J2 Bedford truck, was notably limited in power. Recognising this setback, Max and his brother Eric ingeniously resolved the issue by incorporating a V8 Ford Motor sourced from Eric's speed boat into the truck. They complemented this modification by installing a brand-new radiator extracted from a Ford 500 automobile, ensuring optimal engine cooling. Lastly, they meticulously secured the components in place using belts to fasten the bonnet. It was a rough start, but it worked!
